What is our teaching style like?
Glad you asked!
Just like there are many styles of painting, every instructor has their own teaching style. Although there really is no right or wrong way to paint there are a lot of things that can impact the way your painting turns out and one of those things is the instructions. While some people (usually those “artistically inclined” friends) can do with little instruction and just a bit of guidance, the majority of beginner paint partiers do better with a little more specific coaching.
After hundreds of paint parties, POTP has found, through client feedback, that our teaching style is favoured because it is very specific. Your artists will tell you exactly how and where to hold the brush, how to load the paint on to the brush, techniques for painting on the canvas and how to take care of your brushes so you get the best results. We also give you all our best tips and tricks along the way to avoid common problems, provide suggestions when we see you are struggling with something, or offer alternatives when we know that there are different ways to achieve the same result.
Your artist will also repeat the instructions as many times as necessary to ensure no one misses any important details. Yes, we know that we sound like a broken record but sometimes you need to hear it 2, or 3 or even 4 times before you have that “aha!” moment. When you are a beginner, this specific style of teaching will help you get the best results.
In the end it is up to you to decide how closely you follow the instructions or not! We are not offended at all if you decide to go off the beaten path and let your creativity roam. We always encourage you to experiment, try out other techniques and change up the painting in any way you feel comfortable. But when you need a little extra help to get you through, we are here for you too!
Happy Paint Partying!
